Veterans Day ceremonies - As you all know Veterans Day is a time for paying tribute to the men and women who serve our country. Each and everyday Americans enlist in the armed forces so that they can protect our freedoms. Serving in the Military can be very rewarding. There are ample opportunities to get a higher level of education along with learning a career. Military personnel demonstrate many endearing attributes., the one that comes to my mind often is "courageous"., followed by loyal, dedicated, committed and honorable. On Veteran's Day and always, take time to thank a soldier when you pass them. Remember that they have committed themselves to serve and protect our flag., the flag that flies freely because of those who have served our country for the last 240 years. On Veterans Day, I encourage you to attend a ceremony. The Village of Wappingers Falls will be holding theirs at the corner of East Main Street and Route 9 (North bound - in front of Walgreens) at the Joseph MacDonald MIA Park at 11:00 am. Ours will be held at Town Hall - 20 Middlebush Road at 1:00 pm. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

There has been a date change in this month's s Supervisor's Open House due to a scheduling conflict. I will be hosting my open house on Monday, November 21st at 12 noon. This time, we will gather in my office. I will be available until 2 pm to meet with residents. It is always a great opportunity for me to listen to your concerns and to share innovative ideas.

I have recently completed the first Town wide newsletter. I felt that it was important for residents to know what we are working on and what is new on the horizon. So much that goes on day to day is important to the residents and I am trying to get those messages out to you thru many different types of communications. Often I take the information I write in the Southern Dutchess News and I place it on the home page of the Town's website -

I would like to extend the Town's gratitude to Mr. Tom Masch and employees of the Wappingers Falls Home Depot for their dedication and hardwork at the Middlebush Cemetery. Tom, alone has spent an excess of 60 hours working on the cemetery - picking up and resetting headstones, pruning trees, cleaning up the debris and making it a respectable resting place for many decorated military men: among them are two Civil War and one Revolutionary War heroes. If you have a moment, stop by and see the work that has been done at the cemetery while taking a leisurely tour looking at our Town's history. For more historical information, please feel free to reach out to the Office of the Historian and either speak to Joey Cavaccini or Cliff Foley. They are the most knowledgeable about the history of our area and they serve us proudly.

KNOW YOUR WATER - Do you realize how much of our daily lives are dependent on water? Water is a basic necessity of life. Our daily routines are water consuming., we bathe, do laundry, wash dishes, drink water, make food with water, wash our hands, clean the house, etc... The United Wappinger Water District (UWWD) is our largest water systems in the Town providing water to nearly 3500 parcels of land. On an average day, the UWWD consumes approximately 950,000 gallons a day. In the drier months of summer, the district consumes approximately 1.6 million gallons a day. Thankfully during the drought watch over the last four months, we have been able to maintain the demand for water without any issue, this is due to the dedicated hard work of Camo Pollution.
